Quickstart

Getting started with inTinker is easy. Here's how you can get started using the AI Calibration as quickly as possible

TL;DR

  • Create a new print profile. Calibrations use a Print Profile.

  • Select the Print Profile and add a calibration to it

  • Generate settings, download 3mf, open in Prusa Slicer to slice, then print

  • Evaluate the prints quality

  • Do it again till the print looks good

  • Complete the Calibration Module, this will remove the static settings and calibration part, that way you can download it and start using it with the new settings

Step A) Create a Print Profile

  1. Click the "Add New Print Profile" button on the top right to create a print profile

  2. Fill in the info about the printer and filament you would like to use for this print profile

  3. Upload a 3mf that matches the printer and filament defined in the earlier steps

    1. You can only use Prusa Slicer 3mf files. We are working on other slicers as well.

We go into more detail about Print Profiles and all their features in the Overview article.

Step B) Run the Calibration

  1. From the Print Profiles Page, select the Print Profile you would like to calibrate

  2. Click the "Select calibration module" button to select the Baseline Calibration Module

  3. Click "Generate calibration settings" to create a new set of print settings

    1. This will take a couple minutes. The computation we have to do to optimize 5 metrics at the same time is quite large. You can close the page fully and the computation will run in the back ground on our server. When its done you will see the newly created set of settings.

  4. Click "Generate 3mf" to use those new settings to build a 3mf for printing. Download this 3mf and open it in Prusa Slicer. All the settings and parts should be centered on your build plate and ready to go

  5. Slice the model and print it!

Please do not touch any of the settings. We have added "Virtual Extruders" to be able to configure the calibration part with multiple settings per print. This will not effect your original 3mf file.

  1. Use the Calibration Manual for the Baseline Calibration to score the print. This can be found under the main buttons at the bottom of the screen in gray called "View calibration Manual". There are detailed instructions in it for how to score the model.

Its important to follow the instructions in the manual for scoring because that's how the AI was trained. Scoring it differently would be unfair...

  1. Repeat steps B3 to B6 until you reach the desired quality.

It should take between 1 and 5 prints. After 5 prints the model may be over fitting and lead to degrading performance. If this is the case please contact us for more help.

Step C) Use the new Print Profile

Now that you have some settings that are working well, lets finish up and get to printing fun stuff.

1) Click the "Complete calibration" button and select the print and level that you would like to use.

That's it! Now that print profile will be using those settings. You can download the finished version on the Print Profile page. After completing the calibration we modify the following:

  • Remove calibration part geometry: We will export it with how you gave it to us

  • Calibration settings: We keep the settings you just tuned

  • Remove Virtual Extruders: We will remove the duplicate extruders and configure the new settings into a filament profile you started with

  • Remove Static settings: Settings like infill, supports, perimeters etc will revert back to what you originally had

You can download that profile by clicking back on the calibraiton module on the Print profile timeline on the left. At the bottom click the "Download resulting 3mf file" to download the final print profile.

You can also download it from the print profile page by click the icon on the right "Latest 3mf file" which will download the latest 3mf in the profile.
